I have spent many years talking about niche fragrances and despite encountering countless beautiful brands, Sarah Baker has always been one that captivates and resonates with me. From the artwork on the box to the small script inside, and of course the fragrance itself, there is a remarkable creativity and thoughtfulness woven into every one of their creations.

I could speak at length about many of their scents, but one that truly connects with me on a deeper level is Atlante. I am a huge admirer of the nose, Sarah McCartney, who possesses an extraordinary gift for evoking vivid olfactory memories. Growing up in Scotland, I was fortunate to spend much of my childhood by the sea, exploring rock pools, digging in the sand and running along the coastline with the fresh sea air on my skin. Atlante immediately transports me back to those carefree seaside days, but with the sophisticated grown up twist that is so characteristic of Sarah Baker perfumes.

From the very first moment it touches the skin, Atlante releases refreshing, uplifting salty notes that make me want to close my eyes, breathe deeply and picture waves sparkling in the sunlight. The realistic seaweed accord, with its natural briny scent, perfectly captures the green, glistening fronds clinging to barnacle covered rocks warmed by the sun; a scene I remember so vividly from my childhood. Powdery orris and ambergris add a soft, sun dried warmth, reminiscent of wet skin left to glint with salt crystals. A delicate range of woody notes brings another layer of nostalgia, recalling afternoons spent perched on scattered, sun-bleached driftwood, tracing patterns or initials in the sand with a stick. In moments when I cannot be by the sea and I crave a moment of calm, I immediately reach for Atlante and those memories of expansive air tinged with sea salt and the distant cries of gulls flow back.

This is why I love Sarah Baker fragrances so much. They do not just follow trends; they tell stories, evoke memories and explore scent with fearless creativity. Each creation is unique, thoughtful and unapologetically imaginative, which is a rare and beautiful approach in today’s fragrance world.
